What is a soil analysis?
To achieve a healthy and thriving lawn, it is critical to analyze your soil. By conducting a soil test, we can identify the specific nutrients your lawn needs to grow lush and green. This analysis will ensure that your lawn is appropriately nourished and looking its best.
How do you test my soil?
In order to accurately evaluate the quality of your soil, we obtain samples from multiple locations on your property and send them to a highly regarded laboratory for a comprehensive examination. Upon receipt of the laboratory’s analysis, we meticulously evaluate two crucial aspects based on the results.
- pH Level
- Lime
pH
In order to ensure the optimal growth of turf, it is absolutely crucial to accurately measure the pH levels of the soil, which can range from 0 to 14. Due to its porous nature and close water table, the soil in Long Island typically has a low pH. Based on your soil test results, we aim to achieve a pH range of 6.3 to 6.5 for maximum turf growth.
Lime
In case your soil is acidic, the best way to make it neutral is by increasing its pH level with the help of lime. Our pelletized lime is enriched with calcium and is specifically designed for this purpose. Unlike the traditional method of using white or gray powder lime, our pelletized lime ensures a more effective change in soil pH. Our calibrated spreaders apply the lime at the correct rate (lb/sq.ft.) based on the soil test results that we receive from the lab.
